Earthquake Shakes the Southland
Tuesday, July 29, 2008 (76 reads)

On Tuesday, July 29th a 5.4 magnitude earthquake struck the Southland.  The earthquake was centered near Chino Hills, but felt as far south as San Diego.  While we can't predict earthquakes, we can and should take steps to prepare.  The steps you take now will help minimize damage and injuries when the next disaster occurs.

When the shaking occurs, DO NOT RUN OUTSIDE.  Drop, Cover, and Hold On.  Drop under a sturdy desk or table, cover your head and neck, and hold on to the table leg until the shaking stops.  Most earthquake related injuries result from falling glass, flying objects, and moving people - not ground movement.  When the shaking stops, then it is safe to move.

Red Cross Getting Ahead of Fay as More Rain Falls Across State
Floridians should stay alert as Tropical Storm Fay continues her slow march up the Florida peninsula.
