Arcadia Red Cross Receives Proclamation from City Council

Robert P. Deao Sr., Executive Director of the American Red Cross Arcadia Chapter accepts the 2009 March is Red Cross Month Proclamation from the Arcadia City Council on Tuesday evening, February 17, 2009.

Red Cross Responds to Aviation Crash in NY

Last night, Continental Airlines Flight 3407 traveling from Newark, N.J. to Buffalo, N.Y. crashed in Erie County . Immediately following the crash, the Greater Buffalo Chapter and the Northern New Jersay Chapter of the American Red Cross, among others, responded to the scene. During aviation incidents, the role of the American Red Cross is to support the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and local emergency management by providing support services to family and friends affected by the incident. Currently, staffing for this response is being drawn from the surrounding region. Our thoughts go out to all those affected by this disaster.

Girls Scouts make Valentines for Blood Donors

To help the Arcadia Chapter show our appreciation for our Blood Donors, Daisy Girl Scout Troop 14391 brought us home made Valentines Cards. Delivered by Kyler Smith and Elizabeth Grinstead, the Valentine Cards will be distributed to blood donors at our Monday blood drive on February 9, 2009. There’s no better way to show how much you care than the act of giving blood. Each time you donate blood you can save up to 3 lives at one time. And you get juice and cookies. Join the Youth Corps of the Arcadia Chapter as they raise much needed funds for the Red Cross. Simply bring this flyer with you to Souplantation on Tuesday, Feb. 24^th from 5-8pm. Show this flyer to the cashier when you pay, and Red Cross will receive 15% of the proceeds. It’s that simple! So enjoy dinner at Souplantation and support the Red Cross at the same time.
