Are You Ready for an Earthquake?
Wednesday, March 25, 2009 (438 reads)

A 2.3-magnitude earthquake struck about 4 miles southeast of Diamond Bar at 9:51 a.m. on Wednesday, March 25, 2009.  Beginning on Monday, March 21stthrough Wednesday, March 25th, the Bombay Beach area near the Salton Sea experienced a cluster of over 60 small earthquakes, with the largest measuring 4.8 magnitude.  Thankfully, there have been no reports of damage or injuries associated with these earthquakes.  While there is little chance of these earthquakes triggering a larger quake on the San Andreas Fault , it is imperative that everyone take the necessary steps to be ready for an earthquake.  The most important thing you can do is DROP, COVER, and HOLD ON.

Super First Aid A Super Success!
Monday, March 09, 2009 (7 reads)

On Saturday, March 7th, 63 people attended our Super First Aid Classes.  Held in celebration of March is Red Cross Month, the two classes accommodated larger than normal class size and were offered at a significant discount.   Students wrapped each other in bandages and slings, learned how to recognize sudden illness, and learned treatment for heat and cold related emergencies.  Additionally, students were treated to freshly baked cookies!  Taught by our wonderful volunteer instructors Katie Gould, Diana Liu, Rick Campillo, and Shelley Velasquez, we are happy to report that all students passed the class and received their certificates, valid for 3 years.  Be sure to check with our Chapter in June, when we offer special reduced cost CPR classes the week of June 1st - 7th in celebration of National CPR/AED Awareness Week.
