As fires rage across the southland, Red Cross Disaster Services has mobilized to respond. Red Cross chapters throughout Los Angeles County are collaborating to staff shelters for evacuated residents, providing food, shelter, and counseling to hundreds of people who have been displaced. We are grateful for all the efforts of Red Cross volunteers throughout the area who have been staffing shelters and providing food and snacks for residents and emergency crews.

The AQMD – South Coast Air Quality Management District has issued a Smoke Advisory relating to the Southern California Wildfires.
Smoke from wildfires is continuing to affect air quality in Southern California . The Station Fire in the Angeles National Forest near LA and the Oak Glen Fire near Yucaipa continue to grow rapidly. Smoke has settled into the San Gabriel, Pomona, and San Fernando Valleys of Los Angeles County overnight near the fires, as well as in the eastern San Bernardino Valley . Onshore ocean breezes during the afternoon are expected to move smoke into the mountains. Smoke will linger in much of Los Angeles County and the eastern San Bernardino Valley . Air quality will reach Unhealthy levels, or higher, in smoke impacted areas, especially near the fires.
If you are in an area impacted by smoke:
Avoid any vigorous outdoor or indoor exertion. People with respiratory or heart disease, the elderly, and children should remain indoors. Keep windows and doors closed or seek alternate shelter. Run your air conditioner if you have one. Keep the fresh air intake closed and the filter clean to prevent bringing additional smoke inside.
