The Arcadia Chapter of the American Red Cross celebrated their Eighth Annual Monte Carlo Night, honoring Hometown Hero Matt McSweeny, on Saturday, November 21, 2009 at Santa Anita Park. Over 200 guests enjoyed a delicious buffet dinner, Las Vegas style gaming, a fantastic silent auction, and fabulous gaming prizes in the elegant Chandelier Room. Phil Jennerjohn, a magician from the renowned Magic Castle , performed unbelievable slight of hand card tricks during the evening. The highlight of the evening was the recognition of Matt McSweeny, owner of Matt Denny’s Alehouse Restaurant, chosen for his support of local charities and his commitment to the community, as a Hometown Hero. Congratulations also go to Cathy Hundshammer, our Grand Prize Winner of $1,000 in Westfield Gift Cards in our Opportunity Drawing. Thank you to all who attended and supported this wonderful event. All proceeds benefit the vital programs and services of the Arcadia Chapter American Red Cross.
The Reader’s Choice 2009 Winners were announced in the November 12-18, 2009 edition of the Arcadia Weekly. The American Red Cross Arcadia Chapter was named Runner Up in the poll of favorite local charity. The poll asks Arcadia Weekly readers to vote on thier favorites in a variety of categories. The Arcadia Chapter is proud and excited to receive this vote by the local community. We work hard to meet the Red Cross mission to provide relief to victims of disasters and help people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies.
