East Coast Flooding
As the East Coast struggles to deal with heavy rains and flooding, the Red Cross responds with people, supplies, and shelters. Red Cross Disaster Services volunteers from around the country have responded to the call for help. Amy Chiou, a Disaster Services Human Resources volunteer with the Arcadia CHapter, left California on Sunday, July 2, 2006 for assignment in New York.  She was joined on July 7th by Eva Chinn, Arcadia Chapter Board Chair. Eva is working out of a high school in New York, providing client assistance services. Red Cross volunteers are staffing shelters, distributing food, water, and clean up kits from Emergency Response Vehicles, and providing mental health counselors for those affected by the flooding. The American Red Cross will remain on the scene as long necessary to asssist those who have been displaced by the heavy rains.
