SEPTEMBER IS

NATIONAL PREPAREDNESS MONTH

ARE YOU READY?

A recent poll conducted by the American Red Cross and Harris Interactive found that only 7% of Americans are considered “Red Cross Ready” for a disaster - meaning they have a disaster supplies kit, a communication plan, and are prepared to respond to disasters and everyday emergencies.

The American Red Cross is not only committed to helping meet the needs of disaster victims, but also teaching people the skills they need to prepare for and help keep their families safe in a disaster or emergency. National Preparedness Month is a nationwide effort sponsored by the U.S.  Department of Homeland Security to raise public awareness about the importance of preparing for all types of disasters and emergencies in their homes, businesses, and schools.

It’s easy to Be Red Cross Ready for a disaster!

Just follow these three quick steps:

1. Get a kit.                       2. Make a Plan.                      3. Be informed.
