Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon
Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon

On Saturday April 19th the American Red Cross - Arcadia Chapter celebrated the dedication of their volunteers with a “Volunteers Are Our Stars” Academy Awards® themed luncheon at the Embassy Suites Hotel.   Volunteers and guests walked in over a red carpet to enjoy a delicious buffet lunch.  A brief “movie” of Arcadia Chapter events over the past year followed.  Special pins were given to volunteers celebrating Service Anniversaries.

Sarah Spuck was recognized in absentia for her 35 years of service with the American Red Cross, most notably for her efforts in making wheelchair bags for the Veterans Hospital .  New volunteer Tiffany O'Leary was presented with the "Spirit of the Red Cross" Award for her incredible efforts in working with the staff to put this event together.  Special recognition went to Don Best for the milestone achievement of 50 years of volunteer service with the American Red Cross.  Don is a valuable member of the Arcadia Chapter Disaster Services program.  Pat Hrstich, Meals on Wheels Coordinator, presented longtime volunteer Lorraine Munsey with the first annual Dale Turner Memorial Award for Meals on Wheels Driver of the Year.  The final award of the afternoon – the coveted Volunteer of the Year Award – was presented to Amy Chiou by Arcadia ’s Executive Director Bob Deao.  Amy has volunteered for almost every event at the Chapter.  She specializes in Disaster Services and has even traveled out of the area to respond to disasters.

Congratulations to all of our incredible volunteers for starring in Red Cross programs and services every day, all year long.  You truly are the stars of the Red Cross!
